Pictures: The 14th Fatimi Sorrows Festival, Launched In Karbala

The Hussayni Rituals and Processions Department of the Holy Shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) opened the fourteenth edition of the Fatimi Sorrows Festival, that a commemoration and remembrance of the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima az-Zahra (peace be upon her), in the square between the Two Holy Shrines, this afternoon, Saturday (10 Jumada Al-Awwal 1442 AH) corresponding to (December 26, 2020), and continues for ten days.

 

This opening was attended by a number of officials of the two holy shrines and a group of pilgrims.

 

According to the head of the department, Haj Riyad Ni'mah Al-Salman: “The festival contained many activities, the most important of which was the (panorama) of important milestones in the life of Lady. az-Zahra (peace be upon her)."

 

He added, "Karbala’s institutions and organizations also participated in the festival through special mourning events, in addition to the participation of some libraries in Karbala to place their intellectual and cultural products in the hands of the festival's visitors."

 

Al-Salman continued: “During this festival, there will be poetry evenings with the participation of a number of poets and Radoods, in addition to a women mourning procession that will start from the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), with the participation of a number of mourning women to be led by a symbolic coffin, as well as mourning processions for Karbala’s bodies and parties."

 

He indicated: “There will also be a free studio event for children under the age of ten, as every child will draw what is going on in their mind about Lady az-Zahra (peace be upon her), with encouraging rewards and gifts given to the participants in this event.”
