The Holy Karbala operations command and Karbala police directorate confirmed, on Sunday evening, the provision of a safe and smooth environment for Ashura pilgrims in light of the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
A security source said, in a press statement to local news outlets, that "The commander of Karbala operations, Major General Ali Al-Hashemi, and the commander of Karbala police directorate, Major General Ahmed Zwaini, has confirmed during a security meeting about Ashura pilgrimage and the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Al-Hussein and his brother Abi al-Fadhl al-Abbas (peace be upon them), that the two formation had finalized all the arrangements for a safe environment during the holy month of Muharram."
"The two commands prepared emergency combat regiments according to the Ashura pilgrimage plan, in order to participate with the rest of the security formations in protecting the holy city of Karbala during the pilgrimage period," the source added.
