Sayyid "Ali bin Al-Hussein bin Yunus Al-Larijani was born in 1270 Hijri in the holy city of Karbala descendent from Haeri origin from his grandfather Younis' side.
Larijani was one of the greatest clerks and Qur’an interpreters. He lectured many of Karbala and Najaf's scholars for a long time, and relocated later to Samarra and studied under the famous scholar Al-Shirazi, then he left for Tehran by order of the latter in 1312 Hijri.
He reached a status of piety, asceticism, and righteousness like no one among his peers. He wrote many distinguished books, the most important of which was "Muqtaniat Al-Durrar wa Muqtatafat Al-Thamar" in twelve volumes as an interpretation of the Qur’an, as he was teaching it to a group of believers at the beginning of every night in the "Ateeq" mosque in Tehran.
Sayyid Ali Larijani died on the 20th of the Islamic month of Shawwal, 1353 Hijri, as his grandfather Sayyid Yunus' house, is a well known landmark in Karbala, which is located near Taq al-Naqib monument. He lived in that house along with his son, the famous scholar Sayyid Mahdi Shams al-Fuqahah.
