The minaret of "Mojda" is one of the ancient milestones in the depth of the desert of the holy city of Karbala by a distance of 15.5 km south of the general street leading to the "Ukhaydar" archaeological fortress located on the "Tarr" plain.
The tower of this minaret is characterized by its cylindrical shaped which was built of bricks and plaster with a height of about 10 m. It is based on a square base with a length of 4,5 m. The tower is fixed on this base with a height of 2,70 m. while The tower holds a cylinder with a circumference of about 15 m and inside it, there is a spiral staircase from the base to the top of the tower, in addition to 8 vertical windows at the upper end of the tower, which overlooking all directions.
The method used for building the tower is the Islamic style of building, where you can see the ancient Islamic architecture with its various decorations.
The reason behind the construction of this minaret, is to guide convoys of pilgrims returning from the Holy Land in Mekka and Medina to Iraq. Therefore, it is likely for this minaret to be associated with "Khan al-Atshan", which is located 21 kilometers east of the tower, because they were built in the same period of time, dating back to the ninth century at the Abbasid state time.
