Municipality Disengagement From The District Of Karbala – A Reading In The Ottoman Documents

The Istanbul's Council of Procurators, issued in the 18th of the Islamic month of Muharram, 1309 Hijri - August 23, 1891 AD, a decision stated the disengagement of the municipality of Al-Righaila from the city of Najaf within the Karbala district and linking it administratively with the city of "Shamiya" within the Hilla district. The council explained this decision to the proximity of the distance between the municipality of Al-Righaila and the city of Shamiya, which doesn’t exceeded one hour long.
