The French researcher and writer Dr. Sabrina Leon Murfin has conducted a study on the Arbaeen pilgrimage, regarding it being the world’s largest annual religious event.
According to Almerja.com, Murfin stated in an interview “I have begun my research on Imam Hussein (PBUH) and specifically the Arbaeen pilgrimage, and a part of my research was coming to Iraq."
She indicated that her motivation to conduct this study on the Arbaeen pilgrimage was from the footage of the largest march – in which pilgrims walk from the southern city of Iraq, Basrah to Karbala – via social media.
Murfin added that her study will be a part of her book titled “History of Islam” she wrote 20 years ago, which discussed the fundamentals as well as the schools of thoughts within Islam.
