Literary Competition in Karbala Featuring Arbaeen

“Arbaeen in View of Pilgrims of Imam Hussein’s (AS) Holy Shrine” is the theme of a literary competition organized by Karbala Center for Studies and Research affiliated to the General Secretary of the Holy Shrine.

According to the website of the Holy Shrine, Abdul Amir Al-Quraishi, director of the center, announced that the competition includes short stories, poetry and prose writing about what the pilgrims experienced and witnessed during their Arbaeen pilgrimage.

The contest started on October 15 and the deadline for submitting works is May 30, 2021.

The center also organized an online scientific workshop titled “Arbaeen pilgrimage, manifestation of power or challenge” on October 19.

Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Imam in Islam, Hussein Bin Ali (AS).

Each year, huge crowds of believers flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.
