She is Al-Rabab the daughter of Umro' al-Qais bin Uday ibn Mirdas al-Kalbi. She is one of the wives of Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and the mother of both Lady Sukinah and the martyr baby boy known as "Abdullah".
Al-Rabab was part of Imam Hussein's convoy that headed from Medina to Mecca and ended in Karbala.
What is known about this noble lady, that she was one of the best and most righteous women. She mourned the master of the martyrs "pbuh" so much that it ended her life quickly after him. Historians have mentioned that she did not live after Imam Hussein but one year as she had never sat under the roof of a house. Some says that she settled in Karbala next to the Imam's tomb for a whole year and then she returned to Medina after the return of the female captives.
Many prominent figures of Quraish clan have tried to propose to her but she refused by saying: "I wouldn’t take a father-in-law after the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)".
She remained sad and gloom until she became blind and died in sadness.
