The Al-Sibt, scientific journal issued by the Karbala Center for Studies and Research at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein “AS”, published in the first issue of its sixth volume, a scientific research on the cultural and literary history of the holy city of Karbala.
The journal stated on page (225-226), of the research titled (The Cultural Aspects of the People of the City of Karbala during 1968-1979), that “the literary activity in the holy city of Karbala was characterized by its great importance in society, as it does not depend on a specific government institution, but rather on what poets and writers deliver in poetry and prose. In this field, scholarly families with a clear sign in the sky of the Karbala’s thought and literature, have emerged.
"The city of Karbala witnessed at the end of the twentieth century, wide and distinguished literary events, represented in one of its sides, literary seminars and houses. The standards of these seminars varied in terms of their patrons and lovers because of the cultural and social status of the owner of the seminars,” the research added.
The Al-Sibt, scientific journal has pointed out that "These seminars witnessed the emergence of famous figures in terms of science and literature along with what they has in nature, astronomy, jurisprudence, literary, sciences, and poetry.
There were seminars held within those events, as dialogues and discussions took place on various topics and issues that had a tangible impact on the knowledge and cultural building of the holy city of Karbala, and also they contributed in developing ideas in society, alerting minds, advancing the Karbalai reality and keeping pace with the pace of civil and civil development in the world.
