The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, highlighted some of the moral deficiencies and incorrect practices in society.
Al-Karbalai said during the Friday sermon prayer held at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein "PBUH" on February 14, 2020, that "Selfishness is among those incorrect practices, meaning that the person cares and works to achieve their personal, individual and narrow interests, and does not care of the interests of others. In other terms, it means that the person presents their individual and personal interests at the expense of public interests."
The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, expressed his regret that this feature was characterized by many of those who took power, saying, "Unfortunately, we find this is represented by many who have assumed major positions and have all kinds of power and capabilities, which we had hoped that they would be employed for public interests instead of using them for personal interests."
Al-Karbalai also called on all citizens to "Observe this incorrect feature within them as well," noting that the preference of personal, individual and narrow interests, will eventually lead to disturbance of public interests."
He pointed out that "Any person has the right to search for their personal interests, but only if it does not affect, prejudice, or harm the public interest.
