Al-Nasiri Mosque is one of the ancient mosques in the holy city Karbala. It was built by Nasir al-Din Shah in 1279 Hijrim 1860 AD and is located to the north of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein "AS".
The historian Dr. Abd al-Jawad al-Kulidar mentioned said that Nasir al-Daben Shah had built the great Nasiri Mosque in the last quarter of the thirteenth Hijri century. It is understood from the words of Dr. Al-Kulidar that the mosque is located inside the holy shrine, while Sayyid Salman Al-Toa'ma considered it one of the most important mosques built by Nasir al-Din in 1279 Hijri. Its location is to the north of the holy shrine, as its remains were severly damaged.
Salman Al-Toa'ma did not specified whether that the exact location inside the holy shrine or not, yet, he said it was in the north of the holy shrine, which is a description that isn’t enough to infer the location accurately.
Al-Kulidar mentioned that the governor of Karbala, Abd al-Rasul al-Khalisi had demolished the mosque in 1368 Hijri, 1948 AD, which means that the mosque was outside the holy shrine and not inside it.
