Iraq has planned special measures to ensure security for mourning rituals marking the demise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) later this week.
According to Iqna.ir, Iraq’s Joint Operations Command spokesman Tahsin al-Khafagi said on Monday that the plans will be implemented in the provinces of Najaf and Karbala in particular.
He added that preventive measures have already been taken in areas outside cities in the two provinces where there may be terrorist elements hiding.
Al-Khafagi said that the Joint Operations Command will also cooperate with the interior ministry and other bodies in serving the pilgrims visiting the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in the coming days.
Friday, October 16, will be the 28th day of the lunar Hijri month of Safar, which marks the demise of the Holy prophet (PBUH) and martyrdom of Imam Hassan (AS), the second Imam in Islam.
