Ashura peacefully commemorated in Afghanistan

The Holy Day of Ashura has been commemorated without any big security incidents in Afghanistan amid an intensive insecurity across the country.

 

According to Menafn.com, a tighten security was enforced in Kabul to provide security for the people to celebrate the Holy Day. Ashura is usually followed with reciting holy Quran and religious folks and poems by Muslims across the world to express their sadness on the death of Imam Hussein "AS", the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The security forces blocked most of the streets to the areas where the people were celebrating Ashura.

 

President Ashraf Ghani thanked the high council for religious regularity and security forces for providing safe environment to the people.

 

Your (security council) cooperation with the security organizations in this section is a clears point of our security coordination,” he added.

 

Tariq Aryan, a spokesman for the ministry of interior in a tweet on Sunday said that people and police personnel provided security for the Ashura event and paved a safe ground for the citizens. According to him, women were also among the police forces.

 

Before the Day of Ashura, the ministry of interior assured people that the security forces would tightly secure the Ashura event in Afghanistan.

 

Since last several recent years, Ashura has been celebrating with the existence of serious security threats in Afghanistan.

 

In December 2011, a suicide attack targeted the Abul Fazal mosque in Kabul and inflicted casualties on tens of people who were gathered to celebrate Ashura.
