Karbala's most prominent poets... Sheikh Hassan al-Baidhani

Sheikh "Hussein bin Saleh bin Ghali al-Baidhani" was born in the holy city of Najaf in 1339 Hijri, 1920 AD. He grew up in the custody of his brother Sheikh "Nima Al-Baidani", after he took his initial education in Najaf's well-known religious schools, he accompanied his brother Sheikh Nima to Karbala, where he chose to settle permanently.

In Karbala, he kept on his scientific method going, taking from the city's famous scholars such as Sheikh "Muhammad al-Khatib, who died in 1380 Hijri.

Al-Baidhani has a bright history in the fields of literature and poetry, as he was broadly educated, passionate for Arabic language and its horizons, as well as his massive knowledge in Islamic culture. Moreover, he was an eloquent orator and influential writer due to his clear and simplified statement that was close to the minds of all readers.

This honorable Sheikh has played an effective role in teaching Arabic at the "Mahdia" religious school in Karbala, as he was known for his intelligence, knowldge, and rhetoric, not to mention his determination to implement his religious duties in a blink on an eye. Beside all of that, he has the strength and honesty to express his views without deviating from the right path since his early age.

Sheikh Hussein al-Baidhani has died in the holy city of Karbala on 15th of the Islamic month of Ramadan, 1395 Hijri, September 23, 1975 A.D. after leaving a rich heritage of books such as his poetry collection, and so many works about the Ahl al-Bayt "peace be upon them".
