At the end of the 1232 Hijri, the Ottoman leader "Dawood Pasha" unsuccessfully revolted against the governor of Baghdad, "Saeed Pasha", which led to his expulsion from Baghdad, as he then asked the Pashas of Kirkuk and Mosul for help, all to no avail.
Dawood Pasha went then to the Persian Shah " Zadeh Muhammad Ali Mirza al-Qajari", asking him for support, as the Shah agreed to this request after he was promised with "50,000" Tomans "Persian currency" to the Shah's soldiers, which was the case later, as the army of Shah Zadeh has managed to defeat the Ottoman forces, killed Saeed Pasha, and took over the capital Baghdad.
But Dawood Pasha broke his promise when he took the power as the new governor of the mandate of Baghdad, which made the Shah sent massive troops to occupy cities close to the mandate in their way to it.
This act of war made Dawood Pasha regret his deeds, therefore, he sought help from local figures of Karbala city, where "Ahmad Chalabi" interceded for him to the Persian scholar "Aga Ahmad al-Karmanshahi", who was living near the holy shrines of Karbala. The Shah agreed to Karmanshahi's mediation and pulled his troops to their bases in Iran.
It is worth noting that Dawood Pasha has previously besieged the holy city of Karbala for four years and committed massacres to its people on 1231 Hijri, as this tragedy was locally named as "Al-Manakhour" battle.
