After the so-called "Mahdi Bin Hanoun", a citizen from the district of Karbala, committed a murder, the court sentenced him to death.
So Bin Hanoun sent a telegram from the prison headquarters in Karbala to the Ottoman authorities in the district of Baghdad (May 10, 1309 - May 22, 1893 AD), during which he called the Ottoman Sultan for pardoning him after he paid the required tribute to victim's heirs in order to drop the charges against him.
