The companion Nafi bin Hilal Al-Jumali (may Allah be pleased with him)

His name and descent:

Al-Jumali: as an attribute for the clan of "Thuhal", which is named after Jumal bin Kabbatha bin Nagia bin Murad bin Yahabur bin Malik bin Zubaid bin Saab bin Saad. (1(

Nafi was an honest, brave and courageous master among his people, as well as he was a committed reader of the holy Qur'an and narrator to the Hadith.

He was one of the closest companions of the leader of the Believers Imam Ali "pbuh" and participated in his three wars in Iraq and joined later his son Imam Al-Hussein "pbuh" after renewing his allegiance to the Imam when the two met mid-way at the region of "Atheeb Al-Hajanat".(2)

His martyrdom:

Al-Jumali has fought along with Imam Al-Hussein in the battle of Karbala as he had written his name on his own arrows and kept fighting the Yazid's army until his hands were cut off and became a captive, to be killed later by Yazid's general "Shimr bin Al-Jaushan". (3)
