The Companion Sa'yed Bin Abdullah Al-Hanafi (may Allah be pleased with him)

His name and descent:

Al-Hanafi: as an attribute for the clan of Bani Hanifa bin Lujaim bin Saab bin Ali bin Bakr bin Wael. The clans affiliated to Bani Hanifa are Al-Dua'ali bin Hanifa, Uday bin Hanifa, A'mer bin Hanifa and Suhaim bin Mu`ra ibn al-Dawl bin Hanifa. (1)

Sa'yed was one of the most prominent Shiite figures in the city of Kufa as he was well known with his courage, worship and his loyal companionship to the leader of believers Ali (peace be upon him) and participated in his three wars. He was opposed to the allegiance made by Imam al-Hasan (peace be upon him) and his concession to Mu'awiyah at the beginning.(2)

His martyrdom:

After Al-Imam Al-Hussein "pbuh" prayed the noon prayer with his companions and relatives, al-Hanafi had come to the Imam in the afternoon for permission to fight, after that, he kept throwing arrows against the Yazid's army until he fell as a martyr. (3)
