Among the most famous jurisprudential and literary sources in Karbala, is the family of Sayyid Hassan al-Hakim, who gave us one of most iconic poetry figures in the holy city of Karbala, namely the poet Sayyid Sadr al-Din bin al-Sayyid Hasan al-Hakim bin Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Mahmoud bin Abdullah bin Omran bin Idris al-Musawi aka "Al-Shahristani "due to the links between his family and the large Shahristani family.
He was born in Karbala in 1929 AD and grew up in it, as he took his knowledge from the greatest sheikhs of his era, such as the late Sheikh Mohammed al-Khatib, the late Sheikh Mohsen Abulhab Al-Saghir, and the late Sheikh Abdul Hussain Huawizi.
What is known about Al-Hakim's literature, that it's characterized by its traditional form and the commitment to the old poets' style by highlighting the smooth and gentle aspect of the description and meaning, as evidenced through his numerous poems in the praise and lamentation of Ahl-Bayt "peace be upon them", which attract so much attention of his counterparts back then, that made him the cheif editor of Karbala's "Al-Sharq" magazine, in addition to selecting him for the presidency of the "Islamic Charitable Society" for several consecutive times (1).
