His name and descent: Al-Hajjaj bin Masroq bin Malik bin Kutaif ibn Utba bin Ma'aasher bin Malik bin Muawiya bin Kaab bin Auf bin Harim bin Ja'fi.
He was one of the heroes of the eternal battle of Karbala. He was a true Shiite, and accompanied the Emir of believers (peace be upon him) in the city of Kufa, and then when Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) went to Mecca, he rushed from Kufa to Mecca in order to meet him.
His martyrdom: when the tenth day of Muharram came and the fighting took place, Al-Hajjaj bin Masroq al-Jaafi went to the Hussein (peace be upon him) and asked permission for fighting, so the Imam did. He and then fought bravely until he was killed "may Allah has mercy on his soul".
