What Do You Know About The Nuwab Castle?

Al-Nuwab Castle was one of the historical monuments in the holy city of Karbala, and is located about (4 km) southeast of the city in the area of Bahadiliya. It was built by "Nawazash Ali Khan al-Kabir bin Ali Rida Khan al-Nuwab al-Lahori" in 1296 Hijri / 1378 AD.

This man was one of most prominent and wealthiest figures in India, and is nicknamed as al-Al-Nuwab after the "Nuwab" clan.

The reason he built this castle was to make it as a place to rest and relaxation for him and all the Indian delegations that come to visit the holy shrine of Imam Hussein and his brother Abi al-Fadhl al-Abbas (peace be upon them).

The castle was standing until recently where it was completely demolished for investment purposes.
