What do you know about the historic village of (Shfia) next to Karbala?
The holy city of Karbala is adjacent to a number of ancient cities and towns that have gained a historical importance due to the passage of Imam Hussein bin Ali "peace be upon them" in their lands, and for the stand made by their peoples with the Husseinian revolution against Umayyad injustice and tyranny at the time.
According to some sources, such as the history book of "Al-Tabari", one of those ancient villages is the village of "Shafia", which was mentioned in the book as "When the companion (Al-Dahhak Abdullah al-Musharrafi), asked Imam Hussein (pbuh) to leave with him, he took fifteen men until he ended up in the village of (Shafia) next close to the Euphrates bank".
It is worth mentioning that the contemporary missions to the historic village of "Shafia" proved that its precise location is in the southern part of "Fereha" town, near the present "Haswa" district (1).
