He is the clerk, poet, traveler "Abbas bin Ali bin Noor al-Din al-Musawi" aka "Al-Makki".
He was one of the most well-known scholars at his time. He wrote many famous books, such as Nozhat al-Jallis, Muniat al-Adeeb al-Anis, Al-Azhar al-Nadhira and many others.
Al-Makki has visited the holy city of Karbala in 1719 AD and talked about this visit in his famous book "Nozhat al-Jallis", saying that "When we went to visit the holy shrine of Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon them), we also visited his fellow martyrs and the holy shrine of Al-Abbas bin Ali "peace be upon them."
He described the holy shrine of Imam Hussein "pbuh" as "It has a collection of lamps made of embossed paper that dazzle the eyes, and the types of precious jewels, equivalent to the outputs of an entire whole city, while the inner shrine was topped by red gold candelabra, weighing more than two hundreds kilos, with a dome of pure gold, which was wondrously built by professional builders," adding "I have stayed for two months at the holy shrine that looked like a garden of paradise with high palm trees, refreshing water of the Euphrates, and delicious fruit."
"Its inhabitants faces were filled with joy, as they represent the generosity in its best examples, where every one of them were either a majestic leader, a humble servant, or devout scholar." He added.
