The holy city of Karbala presented an elite group of reciters of the Holy Quran who had a voices that were beautiful, full of faith and reverence for Allah Almighty.
There were many reciters who have spent the finest years of their lives in reciting the Holy Quran, some of them who learnt it instinctively, while the others have learnt it through workshops and training courses.
We will mention here a noble elite of the people of the holy city of Karbala who had great credit for preserving the heritage of the city of Imam Al-Hussein "peace be upon him" by reciting the book of Allah in the Husseiniyats and preaching ceremonies as well as the religious events and the annual occasions of the prophet's household "peace be upon them", such as:
The late Haj "Hussein Fadhalah", the late Hajj "Muhammad Ali Al-Karbalaie", the late Hajj "Hamoudi Al-Humeiri" and the late Sayyid "Ameen Mameitha" who was the official Quran reciter at the holy shrine of Al-Abbas "pbuh", in addition to the late Hajj "Jawaad Al-Mu'athin" who was the official Quran reciter at the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussein "pbuh", , the late Hajj "Hamid Al-Barram", the late Hajj "Mohammad Al-Kateb", Hajj "Mustafa Al-Sarraf", Hajj "Abd Al- Rasoul Al-Banna'a", the martyr Sayyid "Sadiq Al-To'meh", Sayyid "Mehdi Kadhem Al-Attar", and Sayyid "Amin Al-Ka'akaji" and others.
It is worth mentioning that the holy city of Karbala occupies the highest ranking in the world in the memorizing and recitation of the Holy Quran, and still graduated many of the memorizers of the Book of Allah Almighty.
