The holy city of Karbala, after the establishment of the modern Iraqi state in 1921 AD, has witnessed a great urban development, especially in the methods of building its infrastructure and urban areas.
Therefore, this development and urban construction patterns has encouraged the increase of the number of the city's residents into more than (44,150) people according to the 1947's census.
