The compassion of Imam Ali "pbuh" toward his killer
After escorting the wounded-then Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib "peace be upon him" to his house, his attacker "Abdul Rahman Bin Muljim" had been captured and taken to the Imam.
Imam Ali said: "You enemy of Allah, wasn’t I honoring you during your stay in my house?", "Yes," he answered, so the Imam asked him again: "What drove you to this act?", Bin Muljim replied "I sharpened it (the sword) for forty days and asked God to kill the most evil person among his creatures".
Ali "peace be upon him" said: "I see you getting killed by it, and I see you as the most evil person among Allah's creatures," adding to his son Imam Hasan "peace be upon him": "Eye for an eye, if I died, then kill him as he killed me, and if I survived, then I will see what to do about him, O sons of Abdul Muttalib, I can't imagine you covered with Muslims' blood, do not ever say (The leader of the believers was killed) and do not kill anyone but my killer."
"Look, O Hassan, if I died by this wound, then hit him (The killer) with only one hit as he did to me, and do not abuse his corpse, as I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his household) says: (Do not ever abuse a dead body, even if it was to a dirty dog)."
