The representative of the supreme religious authority, Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, called on the necessity of use the summer vacation properly in order to benefit the students.
Al-Karbalai said in the Friday’s sermon held at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein "pbuh" on June 21, 2019, that "We are witnessing the end of school exams and the beginning of summer vacation for students, which means the end of a season where university professors and school teachers were in a state of diligence, hard work and studying, as they are on a date with a harder and tougher season," adding that it is necessary to deal with this vacation in a way to achieve the desired results from the students which their numbers in millions and make up a large proportion of society."
He stressed on the need to "Pay attention to the correct handling of this season, especially that these students are the ones who will be in charge of the educational, cultural and service positions in the future," calling for the need to "Understand what is desired and required from the summer vacation, which requires a social culture and a proper point of view, and turning this culture into a life style."
"Building the student academically and scientifically during the study period is important, yet not enough, because it is unable to build an integrated and successful human personality, especially that these students will bear leadership, professional, and social responsibilities after their graduation," he noted, calling at the same time for the necessity of take advantage of summer vacation to instill the religious, moral, educational, psychological, and social fabric in the students personality through specialized centers."
The representative of the supreme religious authority, stressed that "Families who spend money on the scientific, academic, and the developmental fields, also need to allocate part of that money to spend on building the religious and moral personalities of their children, especially that the youth are in great danger because of the cultural invasion and the misuse of social media outlets and video games," noting that family, school and teachers should participate in building the student's structure correctly by turning the entertainment programs and recreational trips into purposeful means such as pilgrimages to religious sites in order to introduce those students to the history of great religious figures, or to witness Allah's magnificent creations such as mountains and other charming landscapes."
Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai has concluded the sermon by sending a message to university professors and school teachers, to sit with their students at the end of the study season in order to educate them about the proper use of summer vacation, and to warn them of the bad use of such gifts as free time and young age".
