The holy city of Karbala, which contained the pure bodies of the Imam Abi Abdullah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and his brother Abi Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), was famous for holding funerals, mourning monuments, and wearing black every year, specifically in the months of Muharram Al-Haram and Safar Al-Khair.
However, it is necessary to shed light on these rituals and on the parties that have been performing them for decades and are still continuing. As is usual, the first ten days of the sacred month of Muharram revive their rituals by the Husseini organizations and processions from within the holy city of Karbala. As for the Arbaeen visit, participation in it is from All governorates of Iraq.
The city of Karbala is divided into seven parts, namely: Taraf bab baghdad ( the side of the Baghdad Gate) - Taraf bab al-Salalimat ( the side of the Salamah Gate) - Taraf bab al-Taaq ( the side of the Gate of Al-Taq) - Taraf al-Mukhayam ( the side of the camp) - Taraf bab al-Najaf ( the side of the Najaf Gate )- Taraf al-Eabaasiat (the side of Al-Abbasiya )- and Taraf bab al-Khan( the side of the Khan Gate), and each of these sides is unique in service and makes for itself a procession and hospice ( Husayni Tkiyah) to serve Imam Al-Hussein (upon him be peace). Peace) and serve his visitors who come to visit his holy shrine, and it has been customary since ancient times that these seven parties erect tkiyaht and go down with condolence processions from their outskirts, passing through the sanctuary of Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and then passing through an area between the Two Holy Mosques, and previously it was passing through the alleys extending from the sanctuary of Al-Abbas to the sanctuary of Al-Abbas to Imam Hussein (peace be upon them both) and ending with the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
There are categories and organizations that followed this custom and set up hospitables and went down with mourning processions as well, which are the goldsmiths, shoemakers (Al-Qandarjiyya), Al- saffarine repairmen (Saffarine) and butchers, in addition to the Baloch condolence procession, Al-Haidariyya organization, the Zainabiyah youth group and organization.
